Melissa has been a registered nurse for over 18 years. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Following her studies she worked in an acute care hospital setting that included medical surgical and orthopedic nursing as well as critical care (ICU/CCU). From there she spent years working in the home care setting as a field case manager and worked her way up to the Director of Nursing and Administrator of both the Medicare Certified Division and Private Duty Home Care. In the home care setting she came in contact with Palliative Care and Hospice clients and decided to expand her knowledge into that arena. She then took a position as the Clinical Director for an inpatient Hospice Facility where she expanded her knowledge of pain and symptom management. It was then a natural progression to take the diverse clinical and management experience she gained into the world of case management. She enjoys that every new case or new diagnosis brings the opportunity to expand her knowledge, use critical thinking skills and overcome new challenges. She completed her certification for case management (CCM) and has managed many cases over the years in both Worker’s Compensation and Auto No-Fault with a particular focus on catastrophic cases including multiple trauma, brain and spinal cord injury. Her primary objective has always been helping people.
